Postpartum Hair Loss: A Natural Solution
Postpartum hair loss hit me harder than I anticipated. As someone who takes great pride in their hair, losing it in clumps was incredibly distressing. After trying rosemary water with success, I decided to create my own natural hair care routine.
A DIY Hair Care Journey Extensive research led me to a homemade shampoo formula that was gentle, suitable for breastfeeding moms, and effective. I discovered that essential oils can reduce milk supply and avoided using them in my products.
Finding the Right Ingredients Faithful to Nature became my go-to online shop for natural ingredients. The excitement of receiving my order was palpable as I mixed the ingredients together. While the resulting shampoo had a unique earthy scent and sandy color, I was eager to try it.
A Surprising Discovery I was surprised to find that my homemade shampoo didn't lather as much as commercial ones. This was due to the lack of harsh chemicals. Despite the unfamiliar feeling, my husband and I used the first batch. I continued to experiment with the formula, adjusting the soap and water ratio, but ultimately decided to stick with the original recipe.
Unexpected Results While the shampoo might not have felt as cleansing as traditional products, it was actually promoting hair growth. My husband noticed significant hair growth after using it for two months.
Sharing the Recipe For those interested in trying this homemade shampoo, I've included the recipe and a link to Faithful to Nature below. Ingredients: 1/2 cup + 3 Tablespoons Liquid Castile Soap 1/4 cup + 2 Tablespoons Distilled Water 1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar 1 Tablespoon Honey 2 Tablespoon Sesame Seed oil
1 Tablespoon Ground Fenugreek Seeds Mix 2 Tablespoons Folli Care Powder 2 Stems Fresh Rosemary 4 Mint Leaves Instructions: 1. In a bowl allow your fresh rosemary and mint leaves to absorb in your distilled water.
2. While we wait on the water, mix your apple cider vinegar and sesame seed oil with the folli care powder and ground fenugreek seed, mix till you get it as smooth as possible. (if you have a muslin cloth, you could use that).
3. Add your your honey to the mixture.
4. Now add your mixture of your water to the mixture you made.
5. Add your liquid castile soap to the mixture and mix well.
6. Allow all the ingredients to infuse together. Leave aside for about 3 Hours. 7.Pour the mixture into an airtight container, such as a pump bottle, and shake well before each use. (if you like you can leave the rosemary and mint) 8. Wet your hair thoroughly and apply the shampoo to your scalp and hair, massaging it in gently with your fingertips. 9. Rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water and follow with your favorite conditioner. This recipe should yield around 1 cup of shampoo, which should last for several uses depending on the length and thickness of your hair.
