My Hijab Is My Crown
My hijab is more than a piece of fabric; it is my crown, my choice of honor, and my shield of dignity. Like a queen who wears her crown with grace and pride, I wear my hijab as a symbol of my identity, my faith, and my commitment to Allah. A queen’s crown is never removed to please others, and neither is mine. It is not up for negotiation, nor does it bend to the fleeting opinions of the world. My hijab reminds me of who I am—a servant of Allah, chosen to represent Islam with modesty and strength. This crown I wear is no ordinary one. It is woven from the threads of obedience to Allah’s command. It reflects the words of the Quran, where Allah says: "O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful." (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:59) My hijab is a constant reminder that my worth is not defined by how I appear but by the light of my character and the strength of my submission to my Creator. It frees me from the chains of societal expectations and liberates me to focus on what truly matters—my relationship with Allah. Yes, it is my choice. But it is a choice I make with the knowledge that it is not just about me; it is about fulfilling a command from Allah. It is about walking in the footsteps of the women of faith who came before me—women of strength, resilience, and unwavering belief. So, to those who question or challenge my decision, remember this: You would never ask a queen to remove her crown. My hijab is my crown, and I wear it with pride. It is my badge of honor, my declaration of faith, and my armor in a world that often seeks to strip away identity. And like any queen, I stand tall, knowing that my crown is not just a symbol—it is a statement. It says that I belong to Allah and that my beauty, my value, and my dignity are safeguarded by Him alone.
